President Mahama inaugurates expanded Tema port
President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the expanded Tema Port after the completion of phases one and two of the project.
The expansion is a major public–private partnership between Meridian Port Services, APM Terminals and other partners, including the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. It was funded privately.
President Mahama noted that the collaboration reflects Ghana’s ability to use private capital to drive national development.
He described the expansion as one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in Africa’s maritime sector.
He explained that Ghana is working to position itself as the gateway to West Africa’s maritime industry.
He added that the port’s expansion is not only a national milestone but also a statement for the continent.
With its new capacity and modern systems, the Tema Port now serves as the preferred first-call terminal for major shipping lines entering the Gulf of Guinea.
