Non-functioning traffic lights at circle interchange: A public safety risk

 Dear Editor

I write to express concern over the persistent issue of non-functioning traffic lights at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange—one of the busiest and most vital intersections in the capital.

The failure of traffic lights at key points within the interchange has resulted in serious road congestion and confusion.

Motorists are left to navigate the area without any clear signals, often leading to gridlocks and dangerous encounters. Pedestrians, especially school children and the elderly, are put at significant risk as they attempt to cross without guidance or protection.

The current situation is not only a major inconvenience but also a looming threat to public safety.

The purpose of the interchange which is to ease traffic flow and improve urban mobility is being severely undermined by this neglect.

I appeal to the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Korley Klottey Municipal Assembly, to take immediate action to repair and maintain the traffic lights.

Restoring proper traffic control at the interchange is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of all road users.
