Gomoa Tarkwa climaxes 2026 Ahobaa Kese Festival

Gomoa Tarkwa in the Central Region came alive at the weekend as chiefs, residents and dignitaries gathered for a colourful grand durbar to climax the 2026 Ahobaa Kese Festival.

The event also marked the second anniversary of the installation of Daasebre Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII as the traditional leader of the area.

The celebration was held at the Methodist School Park under the theme, “Honouring Our Heritage, Building Our Future: A Call to Action for Gomoa Tarkwa.”

The theme set the tone for a celebration that combined culture with a strong call for development.

There were drumming, dancing and traditional displays as chiefs arrived in their colourful regalia.

Daasebre Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII used the occasion to call for unity and collective action to develop Gomoa Tarkwa.

He said the people must not allow the festival to become only an annual celebration.

He said it must also be used to discuss the challenges facing the community and find practical solutions.

The chief called on residents, traditional authorities, government, businesses and professionals to work together to improve the community.

He said Gomoa Tarkwa had people with the skills and experience needed to support its development.

He therefore urged residents to make good use of their knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community.

Daasebre Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII also called for proper management of resources.

The grand durbar attracted a number of prominent personalities including the Member of Parliament for Gomoa West and Deputy Minister of Energy, Richard Gyan Mensah; the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Mohammed Kassim; and representatives of the Police, chiefs from the Central Region; and representatives of the Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service.

A candlelight procession was also held as part of the activities.

The second anniversary of Daasebre Atta Kwakwa Egyir Opusu VII also provided an opportunity to reflect on his leadership and the journey ahead.
