Workshop to equip young professionals, entrepreneurs with leadership skills ends

A training programme aimed at equipping young professionals and entrepreneurs with leadership skills has ended in Accra.

The Emerging Leaders Training Programme, organised by the Women’s Leadership Development Institute (WoLDI), was aimed at driving positive change in the society.

The programme which began on April 13 and ended on May 26, focused on three key thematic areas which included influence, impact and legacy and was aimed at nurturing a new generation of purpose-driven leaders.

Speaking in an interview with The Spectator, , a Human Resource Specialist, Ms Patience Antonio said the initiative formed part of the institute’s vision to promote structured leadership development in Ghana and across Africa.

According to her, participants were trained in leadership development, goal-setting, self-management, relationship building, and collaboration, networking and effective communication.

Ms Antonio noted that the ‘influence’ module helped participants build confidence, improve communication and develop stronger interpersonal relationships.

She added that the ‘impact’ component would focus on problem-solving, accountability and achieving meaningful results, while the “legacy” aspect would encourage mentorship and sustainable leadership growth.

 “The world is changing rapidly and there is the need for leaders who are innovative, responsible and capable of creating positive impact in their communities and organisations,” she stated.

Ms Antonio said the programme was delivered online through interactive sessions, case studies, group discussions and mentorship engagements.

She further indicated that experienced leaders mentored participants throughout the training period to support their personal and professional development.

 Ms Antonio expressed optimism that the initiative would help strengthen leadership capacity among young people and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

She mentioned that a graduation ceremony would take place on June 6, 2026.
