 Workers observe May Day

Scores of Ghanaian workers on Thursday con­verged at the Independence Square in Accra to mark this year’s May Day celebration with a parade.

Similar parades were also held in the various regions to recognise the effort of workers in nation building.

Themed “Resetting Pay and Conditions of Service – The Role of Stakeholders.” It celebrates the con­tribution of workers to the nation’s socio economic development.

In attendance was the President of the Republic, Mr John Dramani Mahama and other high profile per­sonalities across government and the labour front.

Characteristically, workers cladded in several customised T-shirts and polo shirts with official logos boldly emblazoned on them.

They also wielded several placards with various inscriptions, drawing government’s attention to their concerns.

Addressing them, President Mahama gave the assurance that his administration will bring develop­ment and investment to all 16 regions.

This, he said would lead to massive job creation
