We’ve not stopped Democracy Hub’s demo; we only disagree with choice of location – Police

The Ghana Police Service says it has not stopped Democracy Hub’s demonstration slated for Saturday, September 21, 2024.
According to them, they only disagree with the organisers on the choice of location.
In a statement, they stated that “The Ghana Police Service on 9th July 2024, received notice from the Democracy Hub of a planned protest by way of picketing from September 21 to 23, at the Revolution Square in front of the Jubilee House.”
They noted that In line with the provisions of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), the Police conducted an assessment of the proposed location for the picketing.
Following the assessment, the Police concluded that holding the protests at the Revolution Square could affect public order, endanger public defence, public safety and public health.
