Walewale: NPP announces timelines for re-run of parliamentary primary
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced new timelines for the re-run of the Walewale constituency parliamentary primary.
This timetable follows Tamele High Court ruling on Monday, September 2, annulling the previous election, which was won by Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru.
Hajia Lariba the incumbent Member of Parliament who lost her bid to return to parliament disputed the election results and lodged an ex parte motion at the Tamale High Court.
She accused the party, Dr Kabiru, and the Electoral Commission of electoral irregularities and misconduct.
A statement signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, on Monday, September 2, indicated that nominations will be open from September 2 to September 5, 2024.
Against this backdrop, the election is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 8.
