THE Victory Bible Church International (VBCI) on Saturday presented assorted items and an amount of GH¢14,000 to in-patients of the Achimota Hospital to support their daily needs.

The items included sanitary pads, washing powder, diapers (pampers), liquid soap and bar soap.

Making the presentation, the Provincial Superintendent of the Achimota Province of the church, Bishop Seth Aryitey, said the gesture formed part of the church’s social responsibility to show love and care for people in society, particularly the sick.

“As you know, Jesus Christ laid down his life for humanity and as followers of Jesus Christ, we are also following in his footsteps by giving and showing love and care to the people at the hospital,” he added.

“For example, Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 25:36 that when I was naked, you clothed me; when I was hospitalised, you came to support me; when I was hungry, you fed me,” he said.

He said the donation was to support patients across various wards, expressing hope that it would make an impact on their wellbeing.

Receiving the items, the Senior Health Service Administrator of the Achimota Hospital, Mrs Sumaya Rashid, expressed gratitude to the church for the gesture.

Mrs Rashid noted that the hospital does not often receive such support, adding that the donated items would go a long way in helping to care for the patients.

She also expressed hope that the church would continue to strengthen its collaboration with the hospital to improve healthcare delivery in Achimota and the wider municipality.
