Smooth governance paramount

Dear Editor,
The recent altercation and confusion in Parliament must alert every Ghanaian and Parliamentarians in particular that, the method for electing the Speaker and the two Deputies deserve modification to make way for smooth governance.
I am, therefore, proposing to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Constitutional and Parliamentary Affairs to consider the following:
The Speaker should always belong to the Ruling Party. Two nominees should be provided by the Majority Party to be voted on by the entire House.
The First Deputy Speaker should always belong to the Minority Party. Two Nominees should be provided and voted on by the entire House.
The Second Deputy Speaker should be elected from two Nominees belonging to the Majority Party and voted for by the entire House so that an equal balance is maintained.
The three of them should have ‘No Vote’ because of the more important Neutral Positions they occupy.
John B.K Amoah,
Kasoa.
