Prisons Service Recruit Course 125 Pass–Out

The Deputy Minister for the Interior,  Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has urged the Ghana Prisons Service to focus on rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates, rather than just detention.

He made this call at the Passing-Out Parade of Recruit Course 125 at the Prison Officers’ Training School in Accra.

Mr. Okletey Terlabi emphasised Government’s commitment to transforming the Prisons Service into a modern, humane, and efficient institution.

 He highlighted key interventions by Government, aimed at repositioning the Service, including expanding vocational training, educational programmes and enterprises that reinforces rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration.

The Deputy Minister disclosed that Government plans to implement several initiatives, such as the One Million Coders Programme, which will equip inmates and officers with ICT skills for the digital economy, as well as expand the Service’s mechanised activities and acquire lands for farming to promote self-sufficiency and vocational training.

Mr.Terlabi commended the graduating recruits for their dedication and discipline, urging them to serve with courage, fairness, and compassion.
