President Mahama petitioned to remove EC Chair, others

President John Mahama has been petitioned to remove EC Chairperson Jean Mensa, along with Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Samuel Tettey, and Dr. Peter Appiahene, from the Electoral Commission.

The grounds for this petition include a breach of fundamental Human rights under Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution and other Constitutional breaches such as Articles 23,46 & 296.

According to the petitioner, incompetence, bias, actions and inactions undermine public confidence in the impartiality and integrity of the Electoral Commission contrary to Articles 23 and 296 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

The petition was sent to the President under the authority of Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which provides the procedure for the removal of persons holding Breach of fundamental Human Right, Incompetence and bias.
