Police arrest two suspects in connection with Ablekuma North election violence

The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two men believed to be involved in the violence that broke out during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run election on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The suspects have been identified as 46-year-old Musah Muntari, who works as a Station Manager at STC, and 43-year-old businessman Ali Saeed, also known as Mboma.
Police say both men are currently assisting with investigations.
This development follows the assault on journalists from GHOne TV, JoyNews, and ATV, as well as attacks on political opponents, including former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, and the Deputy Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chris Lloyd.
The violent incidents sparked public outrage and raised serious concerns about safety and fairness at polling stations.
In a press statement issued on July 23, 2025, and signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the police assured the public of their commitment to bringing all persons responsible for the violence, intimidation, or misconduct to justice.
They urged the public to support ongoing investigations by sharing credible information through the emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
The Police emphasized that they are working to ensure peace, law, and order, especially during electoral processes.
