Patronage for bamboo products encouraging

Parts of the Cantonments road in Accra, have for many years been a site for artisans, who produce variety of artefacts by using cane, bamboo and other materials.
Their wares include baskets, dining room furniture and others cleverly weaved for decoration.
They produce lustrous and durable set of outdoor or living furniture ranging from GH₵4,000 to GH₵6,000 depending on the design.
The business which receives a relatively good patronage from both local and foreigners employs an appreciable number of young men who have acquired skills to cater for themselves and their families.
In an interview with The Spectator, they said the focus has shifted from mass production to mainly what people request for.
In spite of the challenges in the industry, some of the artisans believe the business could bounce back if government supported their business
