Organised Labour declares nationwide strike from October 10

Organised Labour has declared nationwide strike effective October 10, 2024.

The Organised Labour had previously set a deadline (end of September) for the government to take decisive measures against illegal mining activities.

According to them, galamsey activities are detrimental to the environment and the livelihoods of many Ghanaians.

Organised Labour met at an emergency meeting yesterday October1,2024 and arrived at the decision to go on strike.

Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of the TUC, in a statement, indicated that “Following the expiration of our deadline, and the failure of the government to meet our demands on illegal mining, Organised Labour has decided to declare a nationwide strike with effect from October 10, 2024.”

“We are therefore, calling on all workers to stay at home starting Thursday, October 10, 2024 until government accede to our demands,” he added.
