North Dayi DCE promotes sports in the District

The North Dayi District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Edmond Kudjoh Attah has personally supported sports in the area, and asked the youth, to develop interest in sports and promised to help them to unearth their talents through the game, which would help the District to produce quality players to join the national football team in future.

He said the involvement of the youth in sports, would not only help them to develop their talents but would also promote peace and unity in the area, and said peace and unity were prerequisite for development, and urged stakeholders to support the development activities of the Assembly to bring more development to the people.

Addressing the North Dayi District Football team during their final training at Anfoega, to compete in the Volta region District competition underway at Anloga, Mr Attah said sports had proven over the years to promote high level of discipline among the youth, and appealed to the team to remain discipline to enable them to achieve success.

Mr Attah who personally supported the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High Schools sports activities in the District, stressed that his commitment to promote sporting activities would not be limited to the District Sports Team (DSPT) but he would continue to ensure a vibrant youth, peaceful and united District through sports.

The DCE believed that it was only when the youth were fully committed to sports, they would become highly discipline, and they would meaningfully be engaged and all forms of vices in the District would be reduced, adding that regular sporting activities would help improve on academic performance of pupils and students.

Mr Attah said he decided to personally sponsored the camping of girls and boys under 15 level, who formed the District Team, donated 40 pieces of running vests, sanitary pads, toiletries and assorted items to the District Sports and athletics Team.

According to the DCE, he also took interest in the Anfoega and Vakpo Senior High Schools (SHS) inter- houses sports and promised to provide customised jerseys and footballs for the inter-schools competition to be held at Kpando next week and called on teams from both schools to be discipline to enable them to emerge victorious.

He said the vision and mission of the Assembly was to promote a vibrant youth and skills development among the youth would help facilitate rapid development of the area, and called on the youth to take advantage of available opportunities to prepare themselves for the future.

The Headmaster of Anfoega SHS, Mr Albert Kwasi Dodo commended the DCE for the interest demonstrated in sporting activities at basic and second cycle institutions in the District, saying Mr Attah had shown quality leadership over the years, which would remain historic in the administration of the District.

Mr Dodo said the management of the school was appreciative of the level of support from the Assembly and called on NGOs, individuals and organisations to help provide the Anfoega and Vakpo SHS with an ASTRO Turf to complement the efforts of the DCE.
