Nae We Priestess cautions young ladies against drug abuse, indecent lifestyles

• Awoon Amugi

Awoon Amugi, a priestess of Nae We, has cautioned young ladies in the community to desist from drug abuse and indecent lifestyles that could jeopardise their future.

Speaking in an interview with The Spectator in Accra, she expressed worry over the increasing number of young girls who abuse hard drugs such as ‘red’ and cocaine.

According to her, during weekends some of these young ladies were openly seen shabbily dressed and openly smoking hard drugs while engaging in behaviours that suggest they were under the influence of drugs.

“Many of them who indulge in drugs are seen sleepwalking and behaving abnormally. Yet, when they are not on drugs, they dress decently and behave responsibly,” she lamented.

Awoon Amugi warned that drug abuse does not yield any benefit but rather has serious long-term health and social consequences.

She, therefore, urged the young ladies to desist from the practice and focus on building a bright future for themselves.

She commended the Eastbourne Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, for its continuous efforts to support the youth in the community.

As the foundation’s welfare officer, she said she was committed to helping the young girls access the necessary support to turn their lives around.

“The foundation has already supported some young girls to further their education to the university level. We will continue to create opportunities for them to make positive choices for their future,” he added.
