Mahama promises transparent and disciplined campaign for Black Stars ahead of 2026 World Cup
President John Dramani Mahama has promised that Ghana’s campaign for the 2026 World Cup will be guided by discipline and transparency.
He said the government was committed to ensuring a more open and responsible approach to the management of the Black Stars and other national teams.
According to the President, the lack of transparency in the past had led to public mistrust, rumors, and misunderstandings about how funds were used.
He mentioned that he had spoken with the Minister of Sports and Recreation and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) management to make sure that the use of funds for the national teams is done openly and accountably.
President Mahama noted that it was important for Ghanaians to have confidence that their resources were being used properly.
He stressed that discipline and transparency would be the two guiding principles for Ghana’s next World Cup campaign.
