The Chairman of the Animators Association of Ghana (AAGh) has called on stakeholders in filmmaking and entertainment to collaborate and revamp animation in Ghana.
During a recently held meeting in Accra, the Chairman of AAGh, Mr Samuel Quartey said, there were huge benefits for the filmmaking industry and the country at large if efforts were made to revamp the animation industry.
“We used to travel to other African and western countries to build their animation industry. It was a great experience over the decade and a proof that we, Africans, are capable of blazing new trails using animation and live action to tell our stories authentically.
“It is, therefore, imperative that we start building capacities of the young and vibrant content creators, animators to help us dominate internally and internationally with culturally relevant contents,” he said.
The meeting brought together key actors including filmmakers in the movie and filmmaking industry with respect to revamping animation in Ghana.
According to Mr Quartey, it was important to bring veterans on board to run workshops and trainings that would better enhance the narratives.
Also sharing his views, Communication Consultant, Bami Baker, from Sierra Leone said, he would do well to support and promote short animated and feature films from Ghana.
Other executives of AAGh at the meeting were Cycil Jones Abban, George Opare, Albert Tetteh Amafu and Kofi Kyei, a Filmmaker.
