Injured machine operator appeals to President for Justice

A Forty-year-old machine operator who nearly lost his hand at his workplace is appealing to president Akufo-Addo to intervene as the father of the nation and make his (victim’s) employers pay him his compensation.
The victim, Mr. Robert Atsu Bilson has worked with Twellium Industrial Company Limited, producers of “Rush Energy Drink and Verna Natural Mineral Water etc” at Adjen Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality for six years and got injured in the line of duty on July 17, 2021.12.9
He alleged that the company dismissed him after the incident without any reasons and also without paying him compensation, therefore, making life unbearable for him and his four children.
Narrating the hardship he was going through to The Spectator a week ago, Mr. Atsu Bilson said “My only hope now depends on my humble appeal to President Akufo-Addo for his fatherly intervention by asking the company to compensate me”.
He said, he was initially rushed to the Adjen Kotoku medical centre, where he was treated and discharged, even though, he needed further treatment.
He said to his utmost surprise, the company dismissed him on August 22, 2021, after he had received his pay.
“Human Resource told me that I was a temporary staff and that the Managing Director had asked her to sack me without any compensation,” Mr. Bilson said.
The victim said he was suffering at home with no food to eat, nor feed his children.
“I cannot do any difficult work now because I continue to experience excruciating pains in my severely injured wrist,” he commented.
When The Spectator contacted the Human Resource Manager of Twellium Industrial Company Limited, Mrs Rita Dick Samels, she confirmed the accidental injury of Robert Atsu Bilson.
She, however, denied knowledge of Mr Robert Atsu Bilson’s dismissal, describing it as a gross injustice that would be reversed and adequate compensation paid to him.
Mrs Rita Samels said the mistake came from Stir-Top Agency Limited, a company Twellium Industrial Company had resourced to recruit machine operators on their behalf.
Even though she gave a firm assurance that, Stir-Top Agency Limited would be able to pay Mr Atsu Bilson’s compensation quickly, nothing has happened over the past eight weeks.
