Godwin Avenorgbo passes on
Veteran broadcaster and communications expert, Godwin Avenorgbo, affectionately known as ‘Grandmaster,’ has passed away at the age of 78.
He died on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Before his passing, the ‘Grandmaster,’ served as the Director of Communications for the Melcom Group of Companies.
At Melcom, he became a cornerstone of the organisation where his visionary leadership and dedication to communication left a lasting impact on the company.
Mr Avenorgbor also served as the Chairman of the Melcom Education Scholarship. Under his guidance, the scheme was transformed, earning numerous recommendations as it benefitted a lot of Ghanaians.
Previously, he was working with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) where he anchored numerous programmes with his distinctive voice and engaging presentation style.
His contributions extended beyond broadcasting, as he later became a prominent public relations and corporate communications specialist.
He was last seen publicly at the Ghana Journalists Association’s (GJA) 75th-anniversary event last Thursday at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
Mr Avenorgbo served as the Chairman of the GJA Anniversary Planning Committee.
