Godfred Agbeteti is best suited to lead Kpando Municipal Assembly – Assemblyman

Some Assembly members at the Kpando Municipal Assembly have urged President John Mahama and the Ministry of Local Government to nominate Godfred Agbeteti as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
According to them, for the government to be strong for its policies, among other developmental projects to get to the people, the right person must be nominated.
Speaking to the media, Assemblyman for Kpando Aziave Electoral Area, Ericson Mawuli Ankah said most of his colleagues he engaged are of the view that Mr.Agbeteti ticks all the boxes and has all the needed qualities to take up the responsibility as MCE.
According to him, Mr.Agbeteti, as the chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), played an instrumental role in the 2024 elections, leading to a resounding victory for the party.
Against this backdrop, he said the Chairman’s exceptional leadership, coupled with dynamism, brought unity within Kpando, adding that such a person has what it takes to lead the municipality.
He added that as someone who was a former government appointee at the assembly, Mr.Agbeteti understands the concept of local government which is a useful quality for such an all-important role.
Mr.Ankah further noted that the current chairman has strong administrative prowess as a former Principal of Kpando Technical Institute, who also has stints with Amedzofe Technical Institute and Ho Technical University.
“Overall, he is very popular and on the ground. He is very balanced, coming from Gbefi and Kpando background. Since 1992, the position of MCE has eluded people of Kpando descent,” he added.
According to the Assemblyman, Mr.Agbeteti was part of the three individuals who were shortlisted and any attempt to smuggle anyone who has not served in the constituency will create a big problem for the party.
He therefore urged the leadership of the NDC to reward loyalty and hard work to serve as a motivator to others in the constituency.
It would be recalled that President John Dramani Mahama in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) (as amended), nominated new sets of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMCEs) yesterday.
In the regional breakdown, 17 persons were nominated out of 18 districts in the Volta region, with Kpando pending.
