 GJA Election 2025: Candidates intensify campaign

 Ahead of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) elections on Monday, aspirants have intensified their respective campaigns, aiming to solicit for vote to the association’s exec­utive board.

This has seen candidates pay visits to the various media houses and affiliates across the country.

The offices of the New Times Corpo­ration, publishers of The Spectator and The Ghanaian Times newspapers have not been spared in this regard with a number of candidates visiting to inter­act and canvass for votes.

The journey for the presidency is a two-horse race between the incum­bent Albert Kwabena Dwumfour and Mr Charles Yao Mawusi; Rebecca Ekpe and Mary Mensah will be in a similar race for the Vice Presidency; while Mr Dominic Hlordzie slot it out with Akwasi Agyeman as for the General Secretary role.

Maxwell Kudekor and Suleman Musta­pha will go for the National Organising Secretary role with Mrs Bertha Ba­du-Agyei and Theodora Amedetor going for National Treasurer position while Zadock Kwame Gyesi and Caesar Abagali are vying for the Public Affairs officer.

Mr Dwumfour pledged to consolidate the gains under his tenure and work even harder to improve the wellbeing of journalists.

Mr Charles Yao Mawusi, a Communica­tion Specialist, also aims to transform the fortunes of the Association in capac­ity-building and promote the safety of journalists in the country.

Other candidates also shared their short and long term vision for the asso­ciation.

The Editor of The Spectator, Mrs Geor­gina Naa- Marku Quaittoo wished them well on their respective campaigns to lead the GJA.
