GIS warns public against fake facebook accounts impersonating comptroller-General

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has warned the public about fake Facebook accounts pretending to be the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu.
In a press release dated June 21, 2025, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at the GIS, the Service said it had noticed that some fraudsters were using Mr. Amadu’s name and photos to create fake social media accounts, especially on Facebook, to deceive people.
The GIS made it clear that Mr. Amadu does not own or operate any facebook account.
They advised the public not to interact with these fake pages or respond to any messages from them.
According to the release, Mr. Amadu has completely distanced himself from such accounts.
The GIS cautioned Ghanaians insisting that individuals who chose to engage with the platforms did so at their own risk.
The Service urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious social media activity involving the name or image of the Comptroller-General.
