Ghana’s embassy in Washington DC to re-opens on Thursday

Ghana’s embassy in Washington DC, United State of America will be  re-opened to the public on Thursday.

This follows announcement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that the embassy has been closed down due to some uncovered corruption scandal.

Announcing the opening of the embassy on Thursday,  the Minister revealed that “a fresh team of our most experienced and astute diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been deployed to take over and overhaul the entire system.”

He disclosed  that full embassy operations resume this Thursday, May 29, 2025, adding that Forensic probe and prosecutions to follow.

“Let’s be clear, President Mahama’s government will not tolerate any whimper of corruption, conflict of interest and reckless abuse of office,” added.

The Minister further disclosed that “It is worth noting that an Information Technology (IT) team has already been deployed to reconfigure the website and payment platforms to do away with all unofficial and unauthorized

links associated with the IT system of the Embassy.”
