It was a night of glamour, history, class and total showdown at the 2025 Ghana Women Award (GWA) where the Director General of Prisons Service and Director of Prisons Welfare swept enviable awards for the service.

The laurels served as testaments to their contributions in the service and the outstanding quota they bring to the development of Ghana Prisons Service.

The Director General of Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie Esq, was awarded with a Lifetime Achievement award, which expatiates as the highest award within the GWA.

Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie Esq was awarded based on her legacy etched in the Service by serving in the capacity of various challenging roles and making resounding interventions and impacts.

According to the awards committee, Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie’s award in her capacity as the Director General proves her resilience, integrity and unwavering commitment to growth, justice and reform.

DOP Millicent Owusu, Director of Prisons in charge of Welfare, grabbed the Outstanding Female Prisons Service Personnel for her sterling feats chalked in the Ghana Prisons Service.

DOP Owusu is a change-agent who has championed humane and progressive reforms that have elevated the standards of care and dignity within the correctional facilities.

The Director General of Prisons dedicated the awards to all inmates in the Prisons facilities and thanked officers for their phenomenal support and hard work.

Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie admonished women to take bold initiatives and make a mark with their peculiar skills.
