GES to investigate Savelugu SHS food quality reports
The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it has launched investigations into the alleged food quality situation at Savelugu Senior High School to ascertain the truth.
A statement issued by the GES and signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES, noted that the school’s food situation was an isolated one, which did not reflect the overall feeding status nationwide.
The statement came in the wake of a video circulating on social media about an alleged food quality situation at the school.
“Management takes the quality of student feeding very seriously. Hence, it prioritises quality feeding and views mismanagement as a serious offence, as it compromises the government’s commitment to enhancing the feeding programme,” it said.
Management also acknowledged that the feeding of students had generally received a “remarkable facelift, with an efficient collaboration between Buffer Stock and the School Heads.
“In our continued commitment to ensuring quality feeding for students, the GES Monitoring Teams will intensify its unannounced monitoring visits to schools,” the statement said.
It urged stakeholders and school heads to promptly report any peculiar challenges they encountered to management for timely intervention. –GNA
