 Dwumfour retains GJA presidency

 Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour was on Monday re-elected president of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).

Mr Dwumfour polled 445 votes to beat Charles Yao Mawusi, who had 245 votes.

Ms Rebecca Ekpe of the Ghana Broad­casting Corporation,(GBC) polled 414 votes, against Ms Mary Mensah of the Graphic Communications Group who gained 272 votes.

Mr Dominic Hlordzi was elected Gener­al Secretary, obtaining 443 votes against his opponent, Mr Akwasi Agyeman, who received 247 votes.

Mr Suleiman Mustapha became the Organising Secretary after obtaining 365 votes, against Mr Maxwell Kudekor who attained 321 votes.

Mrs Bertha Badu-Agyei from the Ghana News Agency(GNA) was elected Treasurer with 401 votes, defeating her challenger, Ms Theodora Ametedor Yakanu of (GBC) who secured 287 votes.

Mr Zadok Kwame Gyesi won the Public Affairs position with 431 votes, beating Mr Caesar Abagali who polled 253 votes.

Meanwhile, Ama Tekyiwaa Ampadu Agyemang a Reporter with the Ghanaian Times was elected as the Eastern Regional Ghana Journalist Vice Chairperson.

The newly elected executives will serve a three-year term.

In his victory speech, Mr Dwumfour thanked members for believing in him for a second term and pledged to continue to work hard.
