For decades, the Republic of China has been renowned as the manufacturing capital of the world.

Synonymous with high volume production, almost everything is ‘made in China’. Now, thanks to the hard work, determination and business savvy of Ghanaian born, Philip Arthur, affectionately called Big Shade, China can boast that it produces high quality entertainment.

According to president of Zero Gravity Entertainment, Big Shade, “the main aim for the activities he put together in China is to connect expats all over China through entertainment.”

Based in the city of Ningbo, his company started small but has been able to grow rapidly within the past year.

He reveals that “we started by occasionally planning parties and events. Now, we work hand in hand with a number of bars and restaurants and host weekly events, that cater for both expats and citizens.”

He tells this paper that the events have drawn big crowds and attracted interest of reputable brands with rooftop events at the Westin Hotel, and has secured partnerships with big names, such as Corona, Jaegermeister, bars like MBar and MMP among others.

He has further noted that Zero Gravity Entertainment has loaned its event planning expertise to programmes in other cities of China, like Hangzhou Shanghai and others.

Asked about the future, Big Shade is confident that bigger events and collaborations are on the horizon, “we want to expand beyond China, we are open to working with other entertainment houses across the world, be it artists tours or brand activation, Zero Gravity Entertainment can do it.”
