ASA Savings and Loans, Kintampo Municipal Hospital organise free health screening
The Techiman Business Centre of ASA Savings and Loans Limited in partnership with the Kintampo Municipal Hospital on Friday organized a free health screening for their clients and members of the public at the Techiman Lorry Station in the Bono East Region.
The over 200 people who took part in the exercise were screened for malaria, typhoid, hepatitis B, tested for their blood pressure and sugar levels among others.
Free medications were also provided to the participants after the screening
The health screening exercise forms part of the Social corporate responsibility of the financial institution towards their clients in their operational areas.
The Medical Laboratory Technologist of the Kintampo Municipal Hospital Mrs. Abigail Akenten who was in charge of the screening educated the participants on the need to check on their health regularly to stay healthy.
She pointed out that hepatitis B and high blood pressure were the most prevailing diseases being recorded at health facilities across the country.
She advised those with High Blood Pressure to eat a well-balanced diet and cut down on their consumption of alcohol and salt intake.
“They must also take their medication which has been prescribed for them by doctors,” she added.
The Divisional Manager of Techiman and Tamale Areas of ASA Savings and Loans Limited Haiul Hasan said the screening which is done periodically is for the clients to know their health status and ensure they are healthy at all times.
He said most of their clients are low-income earners who could not afford high-cost treatment, hence the screening exercise as a way to give back to their host communities.
As part of the screening, the patrons were presented with treated mosquito bed nets for use.
