Amb. Dr. Prince Kojo Hilton tours 70 SHS to empower Visual Art students
One of Ghana’s finest artists and Pan African Art Ambassador, Dr. Prince Kojo Hilton has embarked on Senior High School tour dubbed, Arts Talk 2022, a Visual Art Empowerment Project (VANEP) aimed at empowering about 70 departments across the country.
VASEP is a non-governmental organisation which seeks to educate, groom and empower young and talented upcoming Visual Artists through a nation-wide Senior High School Art Workshop Tour.
The initiative which is already in motion is expected to ignite the spirit of art for global development.
According to Amb.Kojo Hilton, this project became necessary because many students were losing interest in the course due to lack of exposure to job opportunities, adding that it would change the psyche of the students to appreciate the course as a means of employment in future.
He noted that at the end, they would be looking at creating a platform for young artists to express their craft through workshop, to empower them to hold Art Bazaars in their various schools periodically.
This, he, said would create a link between the students and the Creative Arts Industry to establish art competition and awards among the schools annually.
This project was operationalised in 2010 as Support Art Foundation (SAF) to give free training to children with interest in Art and Craft within Adabraka a suburb of Accra, but the vision kept growing and now has become VASEP, which was officially launched in 2017.
Amb. Dr. Prince Kojo-Hilton is a multi-talented visual artist with over two decades of professional experience that has gained him both local and international recognition.
