3 Garrison Early Childhood Develoment Centre holds culture show
The 3 Garrison Early Childhood Development Centre at the Liberation Barracks at Sunyani has held a culture show to mark this year’s Heritage Month.
The Heritage Month which is celebrated in March every year, is aimed at showcasing the rich culture of the various ethnic groups in Ghana, and the need to preserve it for posterity.
The pupils wore various dresses to depict cultural identity of their ethnic groups to the admiration of their parents who had come to watch them
While some of them wore kente and the native sandals, kaba and slit to portray the culture of the people coming from the south, others also dressed in smock and agbada to showcase those from northern Ghana.
Headmistress of the school Mrs Helena Bamfo underscored the need for parents and guardians to imbue in their children the cultural values and identity of their heritage.
This she noted would make the children grow up to be proud of their cultural identity and not be corrupted by western cultures.
Mrs Bamfo said that the continued wearing of these traditional dresses would go a long way to promote made in Ghana goods and the local economy.
