29th GJA Awards Held in Kumasi
The 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards was held last Saturday at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, marking the first time the ceremony has been hosted outside Accra.
The event, themed “Safeguarding Ghana’s Future: The Role of the Media in Promoting Peace, Security, and the Fight Against Galamsey,” honoured journalists whose works were adjudged outstanding.
A total of 321 entries were submitted, with awards presented across various categories including print, radio, television, and online journalism.
Godwin Asediba of Media General (TV3) was named P.V. Ansah Journalist of the Year, in recognition of his remarkable work in investigative reporting and documentary storytelling.
Ms Abigail Annoh of The Ghanaian Times received the top award in the Health Category.

This year’s ceremony attracted high-profile personalities, including the President, John Dramani Mahama, and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, among others.
A special citation was presented to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II by President Mahama in recognition of his significant impact.
