Yonsei University confer Honorary degree on President Mahama

Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea has conferred an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Public Administration on President John Dramani Mahama.

The honour was bestowed in recognition of his contributions to Ghana’s national transformation and economic development, as well as his leadership in public service and democratic governance.

The conferment formed part of President Mahama’s engagements during his visit to the Republic of Korea, further underscoring the strong and enduring relations between Ghana and South Korea.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will receive a Distinguished Fellow Award from University of Cape Coast.

This is in recognition of her leadership, academic achievements and service to national development.

The honour will be presented during a ceremony scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the university in Cape Coast.

According to the Presidency of Ghana, the award acknowledges the Vice President’s long standing contributions to education, leadership and national development.

In a statement on Friday, March 13, the Presidency congratulated Prof. Opoku-Agyemang on the recognition and described the honour as well deserved.

It noted that her dedication to public service and academia continues to inspire many, particularly young people and women pursuing leadership roles.

The Presidency expressed confidence that her work would continue to contribute to the country’s development.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang previously served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and later as Minister for Education before becoming Ghana’s Vice President.
