We will become majority in the various committees – Okudzeto Ablakwa

Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has asserted the following the declaration of four seats as vacant, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will become majority in various committees.

Speaking to the media after that historic declaration by the Speaker of Parliament, he said there are some committees that are clear as to where the chair must come from.

He added that in terms of actual membership, some committees will have to change, adding that they will now become the majority.

The MP for North Tongu further added that consultations would take place, “It is going to be a busy weekend. We will consult with our flagbearer, consult with our party and Functional Executives Committee of our party to nominate someone to be Second Deputy Speaker and processes of nominating new chairs and new leadership of the various committees.”

He said, “We want the few weeks left to the end of the eighth parliament matter and count. There are a lot of issues to address.”

Okudzeto concluded, “There are a lot of matters that we win the debate, have our say, but we do not have our way because we did not have the numbers.”
