Tema GJA executive takes office
The new executive of the Tema Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) were on Friday sworn into office by Justice Janet Anima, a Tema High Court Judge for the next three years.
The Executives were Chairman, Michael Dewornu, Edith Atiaka Eshun as the Treasurer and Patricia Kyei as the Secretary.
All the three are workers of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and went unopposed.
In his inaugural address, Dewornu thanked the members for the resounding endorsement and applauded them for the confidence and trust reposed in them.
The Chairman pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors and to lead a vibrant, proactive, and inclusive GJA in Tema.
“Our administration will prioritise the welfare of members, enhance professional capacity through regular training, and advocate for the safety and rights of journalists,” he said.
According to Dewornu his office will run an open-door, all-hands-on-deck administration and encouraged every member to bring on board ideas that will move the association forward.
The Chairman further emphasized his vision of strengthening collaborations between the Tema GJA and other key stakeholders, especially corporate institutions and civil society organisations, to amplify developmental and labour-related issues in Ghana’s leading industrial hub
