Sophia Akufo tendered resignation from Council of State in October 2025 – Felix Kwakye Ofosu
Former Chief Justice and Member of Council of State, Sophia Akufo tendered her resignation from Council of State in October of last year.
This was disclosed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye during an engagement (Government Accountability Series) with the media today at the Jubilee House.
” I can confirm that Justice Sophia Akufo has resigned from her posting as Council of State Member,” he said.
According to him, after she tendered her resignation, the Council of State asked the President to hold on with his response for them to engage her.
The Minister said, after the engagement, the Council of State found that there was not bad blood, and consequently, the President accepted her resignation.
He added that the law is clear on the processes to replace her, which is currently underway.
