Restoration Worship Centre, Assemblies of God (A/G), Suhum, last Saturday donated assorted items to the Akwadum Christian Orphanage in the Eastern region.

The items included bags of rice, biscuits, beverages, sachet water, bottled water, yam, confectionaries, soap, detergents, shoes, clothes and others.

Presenting the items, the Youth President of the Church, Mr Foster Odei Ansong, said the gesture was to support the effort of the leaders of the orphanage and also formed part of the church’s social responsibility to the community.

The Head Pastor of the Church, Rev. Dr James Amoako, stated that it was the utmost duty and mandate of the church to look after orphans and widows.

He added that, “as a church, it’s also our social responsibility to reach out to the community and one of such ways is to extend arms to the needy and parentless.”

Receiving the items, the caretaker and administrator of the orphanage, Madam Edith Ahama, said the home was founded by Madam Elizabeth Osei, a nurse who was in her retirement in 2015.

She mentioned that a basic school was attached to the orphanage which serves both inmates and children of the community.

She appreciated the church for their support saying, the donation would go a long way to help the children and the orphanage as a whole.

She called on other benevolent organisations to emulate the church’s example and assist the orphanage.
