Police engage management of two schools over student violence

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, has engaged the management of Swedru School of Business and Obrachire Senior High Technical School following the recent violent incident involving students from both institutions.

The meeting was convened to address concerns arising from the incident, which has attracted public attention. COP Donkor emphasised the need for calm and cooperation as the Police work to address the matter comprehensively.

During the engagement, management of Swedru School of Business was given 24 hours to produce the students involved in the incident to assist the investigation. She stressed that compliance with the directive would facilitate the swift and thorough handling of the case.

She also underscored the seriousness of the violence and its potential consequences for the students involved, indicating that investigations have formally commenced to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify all persons connected to it. She also noted that the victim of the incident is currently responding to treatment.

COP Donkor reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to ensuring accountability, maintaining law and order, and promoting safety within educational institutions.
