NHIA Savannah Regional Director Embarks on Tour to Strengthen Healthcare Access

The Acting Savannah Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr. Kasimu Abudulai, has completed a week-long familiarization tour across key districts in the region, aimed at deepening stakeholder collaboration and improving healthcare delivery.
The tour took Mr. Abudulai and his team including Regional Operations Manager Mr. James Sumani Buah, Acting Principal Manager Mr. Mahama Sakara, and Acting Public Relations Officer Mr. Victor Suglo, to the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba, Bole, Central Gonja, and East Gonja districts.
Throughout the engagements, the Regional Director met with NHIA district staff, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), district health directorates, and selected NHIS-credentialed health facilities.
Mr. Abudulai underscored the need to establish zonal offices to expand access across the vast region and called for stronger efforts to enroll vulnerable populations under the scheme. The MDCEs assured their support, recognizing the shared goal of enhancing healthcare access in their communities.
At health facilities, Mr. Abudulai emphasized adherence to the updated NHIS tariffs and medicines list, stressing the importance of maintaining quality standards and warning against illegal co-payments. Facility managers, in turn, commended NHIA for timely claims reimbursements, which they said had improved their operational stability.
In his interactions with district NHIA staff, Mr. Abudulai praised their commitment and promised to address challenges raised during the visit. He urged the teams to stay focused on the NHIA’s mission to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.
The tour has been widely praised for reinforcing vital partnerships and generating valuable insights that will help strengthen healthcare delivery across the Savannah Region.
