Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings Laid to Rest

It was a solemn moment on Friday as the nation, family, and sympathisers paid their last respects to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, at the Independence Square. In attendance were President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and other high-profile guests.

Also present were former President Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife Rebecca Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife Samira Bawumia, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Speaker of Parliament Mr. Alban Bagbin, and other dignitaries. Tributes were read from family, friends, and grandchildren, describing her as “an angel whose boundless energy, kindness, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her.”

Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, an advocate for women’s empowerment and social justice, passed away on October 23, 2025, after a short illness at the Ridge Hospital. Her legacy in championing the rights of women and contributing to social development continues to inspire generations.
