James Gyakye Quayson sworn-in as MP for Assin North
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingford Sumana Bagbin yesterday sworn in newly elected Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency.
This was after the embattled MP emerged winner of the Assin North by-election held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
Quayson won with 17,245 votes representing 57.56 percent of the valid votes cast with the New Patriotic Party candidate, Charles Opoku coming second with 12,630 votes representing 42.15 percent.
The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) candidate Sefenu Bernice Enyonam got 87 votes representing 0.29 percent.
During the ceremony held on Tuesday, he swore the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Member of Parliament, which was administered by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
The event which was graced by the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama saw the Minority Members of Parliament dress in white attire to symbolise the significance of the event.
