Hundreds attend Eid prayers at Black Star Square

Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu led prayers at the Square
The Feast of Sacrifice (Eid ul-Adha) was once again celebrated in solemnity as thousands of Muslims gathered at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday to praise Allah and ask for continuous guidance and protection.
National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, prayed for lasting peace and cohesion in the country and told worshippers to abide by the divine command of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be Upon Him).
President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahammud Bawumia, and other dignitaries graced the packed ceremony, calling for more support as the government continued to deliver on its promises.
The President, expressing confidence in his administration, indicated that the economy was getting back on track in spite of challenges. He told the gathering to be faithful to the teachings of Allah and remain good citizens.
Other goodwill messages poured in for the celebrants who continued the feast at their respective locations. The increasing cost of merchandise and livestock, however, did not deter the faithful from making sacrifices and sharing the little they could afford with neighbours.
Eid Al-Adha marks Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as he was tested by Allah who subsequently provided the sacrificial ram. Here are excerpts of the activities at the Square.
