Hohoe United host Young Apostles in maiden GPL action in Hohoe
The 10,000-capacity Hohoe Sports Stadium will come alive with Ghana Premier League action for the very first time in its history when newly promoted side, Hohoe United, host Young Apostles today.
Having secured a point from their first game in the League against Hearts of Oak on match day one, an expectant home crowd will welcome the gallant side to their backyard as they look to pick their first three points in the league.
Ahead of the match, Coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru, a former coach of Young Apostles, has stated that victory at home was high on the cards for his side.
“Having won our first point away against Hearts, picking up our first three points in front of our home fans will be something special, and we are working towards that.”
“We want them to come out in their numbers as they always do; fill every space in the stands, and create the atmosphere for the victory.”
The Head Coach of Young Apostles, Abu Abdul Hanan, said the 2-0 home loss to Medeama SC was behind and were ready to jostle for the points like their opponents did in Accra.
Also at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex today, returnees Eleven Wonders will test their strength against Heart of Lions.
A grand homecoming is expected at the Swedru Stadium as Swedru All Blacks welcome Berekum Chelsea for their first Premier League game after 16 years.
Both sides suffered defeat in their opening-day games, and for the host, who nearly shocked Nations FC at their own backyard until a last-minute loss of concentration robbed them of a point, a home victory will be a perfect start to life in the league.
For Head Coach of Chelsea, Samuel Boadu, a second successive defeat after that to Asante Kotoko will be bad for his side.
At the Nana Agyernang Badu I Park in Dormaa, Aduana FC will welcome Nations FC at home.
In other games tomorrow, the Nsenkyire Sports Arena will host the Samartex FC versus Karela United clash, while the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park host the action between Bechem United FC and Basake Holy Stars FC.
The Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema will host the Dreams FC versus Hearts of Oak game on Monday.
The game between Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been postponed due to their involvement in continental assignments this weekend.
