Ghana Reads Initiative marks 31st International Day for PWDs

The Ghana Reads Initiative has held its 31st International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)at Dworwulu Special School.

The event was aimed at fostering inclusiveness in all segments of society.

Addressing guests, the Acting National Director for Ghana Reads Initiative, Mr. Albert Koomson said disability was a universal experience, and being disabled should not be seen as a barrier to achieve­ment.

The Board Chairperson of the organisation, Madam Tina Aforo-Yeboah, speaking on the theme “ensuring inclusive and equitable quality educa­tion,” recognised the challenges faced by those with disabilities, adding that the organisation was committed to advocate a systematic development for all.

Mr Frederick Tetteh who chaired the event underscored the importance of disability-related initiatives and said the group was committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination against per­sons with disabilities.

Mr Robert Gbari Gariba who spoke on behalf of the guest speaker, said education was not merely a path to knowledge but a catalyst for empowerment and societal change.

Mr Gariba called on stakeholders to commit to providing quality and equitable education that val­ues diversity and fosters innovation.
