Former Nigerian President Mohammed Buhari dies in London

Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has passed on in the early hours of Sunday, July 13, 2025 in London.
The former Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari has died in a London clinic at the age of 82, his family has said in a statement.
“The family has announced the passing of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, this afternoon, in a clinic in London,” the statement Signed by Garba Shehu revealed.
He added, “May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
The immediate past president of Nigeria was reported to have travelled to the UK in April for a routine medical check-up but subsequently fell ill.
Mr Buhari made history in 2015 as the first opposition candidate to defeat an incumbent and win the presidency with the promise to tackle corruption and insecurity.
The former soldier carried out a military coup in 1983 and ruled for twenty months before he was unseated through another coup.
