Chief, people of Alakple celebrate annual get-together

 The Dufia of Alakple in the Anlo District of the Volta Re­gion, Togbi Amey Zegu II, has urged his people to rally behind him to develop a model communi­ty with improved infrastructure.

“Our forebears have played their part, it is now the collec­tive responsibility of the current generation to come together and bequeath a befitting legacy for those yet to be born and these could only be achieved through unity,” he added.

Togbi Zegu made the call at the annual get together of the Alakple Development Association during the Easter festivities.

The event under the theme: Unity: the key to sustainable development and progress of Alakple attracted dignitaries including, the Chief of Staff to the Vice President, Alex Segbefia, the Volta Regional Minster, James Gunu, Deputy Director of the National Health Insurance Author­ity (NHIS), Dr Senanu Djokoto, the Fiaga of the Klefe Traditional Area, Togbe Koku Dzaga XI and other chiefs and natives of the area.

The durbar was also used to raise over GH₵80,000 to help complete the Kome Junction to Alakple road and the CHPS com­pound project started last year.

He urged businesses to invest in the area especially the hospitality sector to promote the tourism potential of the community.

Togbi Zegu urged the youth to refrain from taking hard drugs especially opioids which could destroy their lives.

Togbe Dzaga commended the community for their self-help spirit and volunteerism explaining that unity remains the bedrock of any thriving society.

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu who commended the people for their continuous sup­port and unity pledged support for the completion of the Kome Junction to Alakple road.

Dr Senanu Djokoto charged the youth to desist from hard drugs including red which is currently destroying the youth.
