ATU launches endowment fund
The Accra Technical University (ATU) on Tuesday launched an endowment fund to support its long-term development, strengthen academic activities and mobilise financial resources to improve teaching, learning and research.
The initiative is expected to provide an additional source of funding for the university’s programmes and infrastructure while encouraging alumni, corporate institutions, philanthropists and other stakeholders to contribute towards its growth.
Speaking at the launch, the Chairman for the occasion, Prof. Joshua Alabi, described the initiative as an important step towards securing the university’s financial future and supporting its development agenda.
He called on stakeholders to support the fund, stressing that the progress of the university required a collective effort.
“The endowment fund is expected to contribute to key areas of the university’s operations, including infrastructure development, research, innovation, scholarships and student support, subject to the fund’s stated objectives,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor of ATU, Mr Amevi Acakpovi, said the fund was expected to strengthen the university’s capacity to provide quality technical and vocational education and training while preparing students with the practical skills needed to contribute to national development.
He noted that the success of the fund would depend on sustained contributions, transparent management and accountability to ensure that resources mobilised were used to advance the university’s mission. Read More
