Antoinette Kwofie charges women to take up leadership positions

The Chief Finance Officer of MTN Ghana, Antoinette Kwofie, has urged women to make themselves visible and take up leadership positions to help bridge the gender gap and make an impact in society.
She was part of a five-member panel who spoke on the theme “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” at the 2022 ‘Ring the Bell for Gender Equality’ programme organised by the Ghana Stock Exchange in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on Wednesday.
Sharing her experience, she said women in the world of Finance were “viewed as the exception rather than the norm,” adding that until she got into the corporate world, she did not know that the expectations of women were different.
Explaining what gender equality meant to her, she said equality was about “pick-up a box with two hands rather than struggling to pick it up with one hand.”
As a result, she was passionate about being a role model for the next generation of women and to conscientise them to know that they were “enough to make things happen.”
“Every woman should be able to see beyond themselves. If you can’t see it, you can’t be it.
You have to be more visible. You can’t be invisible if you want to make an impact, your visibility has to create the right impact”, she stressed, indicating the need to deepen conversations pertaining to mentoring and professional development of women.
